- Sources are mandatory — every number must have a source
- Prefer primary sources (manufacturer brochures, designer data, surveys)
- Archived pages from other multihull databases are acceptable if sourced
- Owner measurements must be clearly marked as such
- Be conservative with performance claims
- Manufacturer brochure / website
- Designer specifications
- Professional survey
- Archived multihull reference pages (link to Wayback Machine)
- Peer-reviewed articles
- Owner measurements with methodology noted
Use the Boat Page Template exactly. Every boat page must include:
- Manufacturer, Model, Variant
- Hull type (catamaran / trimaran / proa)
- Dimensions: LOA, LWL, Beam (overall + WL), Draft (min/max)
- Displacement: light + loaded
- Sail area: upwind + downwind
- Systems: Power, fuel, water, berths
- Sources section (mandatory)
- Discussion section for verification
All contributions are visible immediately. A moderation team will periodically review data for promotion to the locked Production Database — this is the clean, verified dataset used by comparison tools.
- When in doubt, leave a field blank rather than guessing
- Use metric units (metres, kilograms, m², litres)
- If you find conflicting data, note both values and cite both sources
- Use the Discussion section for anything uncertain
⇒ Open the Boat Intake Form — a guided form for one boat at a time.
For several boats at once: download the CSV template, fill it in Excel/Sheets, then bulk upload.
Everything you submit lands in the moderation queue with your name attached. Wiki-page contributions below are still welcome for background, history, and narrative.
